How to Prepare for Depo-Provera

You can only get the Depo-Provera through a prescription from your doctor or health care provider. They will first review your medical history and check your blood pressure before issuing you with a prescription to ensure that you are the ideal candidate for it. You should also discuss about any other medications that you have been taking recently including herbal products and non-prescription medications, since they can cause complications.

If you want to give yourself the Depo-Provera injections at home, you need to ask your doctor for permission to do so. Prolonged use of Depo-Provera is not recommended.
